Surah Al-An'am 6:54
وَاِذَا جَآءَكَ الَّذِيۡنَ يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِاٰيٰتِنَا فَقُلۡ سَلٰمٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡ​ كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمۡ عَلٰى نَفۡسِهِ الرَّحۡمَةَ​ ۙ اَنَّهٗ مَنۡ عَمِلَ مِنۡكُمۡ سُوۡٓءًۢا بِجَهَالَةٍ ثُمَّ تَابَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهٖ وَاَصۡلَحَۙ فَاَنَّهٗ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ‏  ۝
Wa-itha jaaka allatheenayu/minoona bi-ayatina faqul salamunAAalaykum kataba rabbukum AAala nafsihi arrahmataannahu man AAamila minkum soo-an bijahalatin thumma tabamin baAAdihi waaslaha faannahu ghafoorun raheem
And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, "Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful."

The Decree of Mercy: God has decreed mercy for Himself and forgives those who err in ignorance.

The Insight

God has decreed mercy for Himself, so He forgives those who commit evil out of ignorance and then sincerely repent. **Trust in God's foundational mercy.** God's mercy is an established, non-negotiable attribute. This assurance should motivate immediate repentance after any mistake.
