Surah Al-An'am (6:53)

وَكَذٰلِكَ فَتَـنَّا بَعۡضَهُمۡ بِبَـعۡضٍ لِّيَـقُوۡلُـوۡۤا اَهٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَنَّ اللّٰهُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَيۡنِنَا ؕ اَلَـيۡسَ اللّٰهُ بِاَعۡلَمَ بِالشّٰكِرِيۡنَ‏ ۝

Wakathalika fatanna baAAdahumbibaAAdin liyaqooloo ahaola-i manna AllahuAAalayhim min baynina alaysa Allahu bi-aAAlama bishshakireen

And thus We have tried some of them through others that they i.e., the disbelievers might say, "Is it these whom Allāh has favored among us?" Is not Allāh most knowing of those who are grateful?

The Test of Wealth: The rich mock the poor, questioning God's choice of favor.

The Insight

The rich mock the poor believers, questioning if God would favor them among the community. **Reject spiritual elitism.** Do not use wealth as a measure of God's favor or spiritual worth. God tests the rich through the poor, and their arrogance blinds them to true piety.
