Surah Al-An'am (6:52)

وَلَا تَطۡرُدِ الَّذِيۡنَ يَدۡعُوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ بِالۡغَدٰوةِ وَالۡعَشِىِّ يُرِيۡدُوۡنَ وَجۡهَهٗ ؕ مَا عَلَيۡكَ مِنۡ حِسَابِهِمۡ مِّنۡ شَىۡءٍ وَّمَا مِنۡ حِسَابِكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ مِّنۡ شَىۡءٍ فَتَطۡرُدَهُمۡ فَتَكُوۡنَ مِنَ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏ ۝

Wala tatrudi allatheenayadAAoona rabbahum bilghadati walAAashiyyiyureedoona wajhahu ma AAalayka min hisabihimmin shay-in wama min hisabika AAalayhim minshay-in fatatrudahum fatakoona mina aththalimeen

And do not send away those who call upon their Lord morning and afternoon, seeking His face i.e., favor. Not upon you is anything of their account and not upon them is anything of your account. So were you to send them away, you would then be of the wrongdoers.

The Ethics of Association: Not driving away the poor who call upon God sincerely.

The Insight

The Prophet is commanded not to drive away the poor believers who call upon God morning and evening, seeking only His pleasure. **Honor sincerity over status.** Treat all sincere believers, especially the financially disadvantaged, with the utmost respect. Do not let wealth or social status dictate whom you associate with in your pursuit of God.
