Surah An-Nisa (4:63)

اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الَّذِيۡنَ يَعۡلَمُ اللّٰهُ مَا فِىۡ قُلُوۡبِهِمۡ فَاَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَعِظۡهُمۡ وَقُلْ لَّهُمۡ فِىۡۤ اَنۡفُسِهِمۡ قَوۡلًاۢ بَلِيۡغًا‏ ۝

Ola-ika allatheena yaAAlamuAllahu ma fee quloobihim faaAArid AAanhumwaAAithhum waqul lahum fee anfusihim qawlan baleegha

Those are the ones of whom Allāh knows what is in their hearts, so turn away from them but admonish them and speak to them a far-reaching i.e., effective word.

Theme of the Ayat

The Divine Knowledge: God knows their hidden thoughts, so leave them and admonish them gently.

The Insight

God knows the hypocrisy in their hearts. The Prophet is commanded to leave them alone but admonish them and speak penetrating words to them. **Speak truth with compassion.** When dealing with known hypocrites, do not expose their hidden malice, but focus on giving gentle, penetrating advice that targets their conscience.
