O you who have believed, obey Allāh and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allāh and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allāh and the Last Day. That is the best way and best in result.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Command of Obedience: Obeying God, the Messenger, and those in authority.

The Insight

Believers must obey God, obey the Messenger, and obey those in authority (*Uli al-Amr*) among them. **Honor righteous authority.** Submission is hierarchical: first to God and the Messenger, then to righteous leaders who enforce God's law. If authority conflicts with God's law, the latter takes precedence.
