Surah Al-Baqarah 2:58
وَاِذۡ قُلۡنَا ادۡخُلُوۡا هٰذِهِ الۡقَرۡيَةَ فَکُلُوۡا مِنۡهَا حَيۡثُ شِئۡتُمۡ رَغَدًا وَّادۡخُلُوا الۡبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَّقُوۡلُوۡا حِطَّةٌ نَّغۡفِرۡ لَـكُمۡ خَطٰيٰكُمۡ​ؕ وَسَنَزِيۡدُ الۡمُحۡسِنِيۡنَ‏ ۝
Wa-ith qulna odkhuloo hathihialqaryata fakuloo minha haythu shi/tum raghadan wadkhulooalbaba sujjadan waqooloo hittatun naghfirlakum khatayakum wasanazeedu almuhsineen
And recall when We said, "Enter this city i.e., Jerusalem and eat from it wherever you will in ease and abundance, and enter the gate bowing humbly and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens i.e., sins.' We will then forgive your sins for you, and We will increase the doers of good in goodness and reward."

Theme of the Ayat

The Failure of Obedience: Trivializing a simple divine command.

The Insight

They were commanded to enter a town humbly, saying 'Hittah' (forgiveness), but they mocked the instruction. Take commands seriously. Divine instructions, even seemingly small ones like mannerisms or specific phrases in prayer, are tests of absolute obedience. Trivializing them shows a lack of respect for the Authority that issued them.
