AYAT.ONE
Ma yawaddu allatheena kafaroomin ahli alkitabi wala almushrikeena an yunazzalaAAalaykum min khayrin min rabbikum wallahu yakhtassubirahmatihi man yashao wallahu thooalfadli alAAatheem
Neither those who disbelieve from the People of the Scripture i.e., the Jews and Christians nor the polytheists wish that any good should be sent down to you from your Lord. But Allāh selects for His mercy whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.

Theme of the Ayat

Envy of God's Favor: Accepting that God chooses whom He wills.

The Insight

This addresses the envy of the People of the Book toward the Muslims, wishing that God had not chosen Prophet Muhammad for revelation. Accept divine distribution. Do not envy the blessings God has chosen for others (wealth, intelligence, prophethood). Focus instead on maximizing the favors God has granted you, accepting His ultimate freedom in distributing grace.
