Healing (Shifa)

وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الۡـقُرۡاٰنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٌ وَّرَحۡمَةٌ لِّـلۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ​ۙ وَلَا يَزِيۡدُ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ اِلَّا خَسَارًا‏ ۝
Wanunazzilu mina alqur-ani mahuwa shifaon warahmatun lilmu/mineena walayazeedu aththalimeena illakhasara
And We send down of the Qur’ān that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.

Surah Yunus 10:57
يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَتۡكُمۡ مَّوۡعِظَةٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ وَشِفَآءٌ لِّمَا فِى الصُّدُوۡرِۙ  وَهُدًى وَّرَحۡمَةٌ لِّـلۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‏ ۝
Ya ayyuha annasuqad jaatkum mawAAithatun min rabbikum washifaonlima fee assudoori wahudan warahmatunlilmu/mineen
O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers.

قَاتِلُوۡهُمۡ يُعَذِّبۡهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِاَيۡدِيۡكُمۡ وَيُخۡزِهِمۡ وَيَنۡصُرۡكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَيَشۡفِ صُدُوۡرَ قَوۡمٍ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَۙ‏ ۝
Qatiloohum yuAAaththibhumu Allahubi-aydeekum wayukhzihim wayansurkum AAalayhim wayashfi sudooraqawmin mu/mineen
Fight them; Allāh will punish them by your hands and will disgrace them and give you victory over them and satisfy the breasts i.e., desires of a believing people

Wa-itha maridtu fahuwayashfeen
And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

وَلَوۡ جَعَلۡنٰهُ قُرۡاٰنًا اَعۡجَمِيًّا لَّقَالُوۡا لَوۡلَا فُصِّلَتۡ اٰيٰتُهٗ ؕ ءَؔاَعۡجَمِىٌّ وَّعَرَبِىٌّ​  ؕ قُلۡ هُوَ لِلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا هُدًى وَشِفَآءٌ​  ؕ وَ الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ فِىۡۤ اٰذَانِهِمۡ وَقۡرٌ وَّهُوَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ عَمًى​ ؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ يُنَادَوۡنَ مِنۡ مَّكَانٍۢ بَعِيۡدٍ‏ ۝
Walaw jaAAalnahu qur-ananaAAjamiyyan laqaloo lawla fussilat ayatuhuaaAAjamiyyun waAAarabiyyun qul huwa lillatheena amanoohudan washifaon wallatheena layu/minoona fee athanihim waqrun wahuwa AAalayhim AAaman ola-ikayunadawna min makanin baAAeed
And if We had made it a foreign i.e., non-Arabic Qur’ān, they would have said, "Why are its verses not explained in detail in our language? Is it a foreign recitation and an Arab messenger?" Say, "It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure." And those who do not believe - in their ears is deafness, and it is upon them blindness. Those are being called from a distant place.

This verse speaks to the core theme of **Fussilat**.

The Insight

Reflect on the meaning: "And if We had made it a foreign i.e., non-Arabic Qur’ān, they would have said, "Why are its verses not explained in detail in our language? Is it a foreign recitation and an Arab messenger?" Say, "It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure." And those who do not believe - in their ears is deafness, and it is upon them blindness. Those are being called from a distant place.".

ثُمَّ كُلِىۡ مِنۡ كُلِّ الثَّمَرٰتِ فَاسۡلُكِىۡ سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًا​ ؕ يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡۢ بُطُوۡنِهَا شَرَابٌ مُّخۡتَلِفٌ اَلۡوَانُهٗ فِيۡهِ شِفَآءٌ لِّلنَّاسِ​ؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِّقَوۡمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ‏ ۝
Thumma kulee min kulli aththamaratifaslukee subula rabbiki thululan yakhruju min butoonihasharabun mukhtalifun alwanuhu feehi shifaonlinnasi inna fee thalika laayatanliqawmin yatafakkaroon
