Surah Yusuf 12:86
قَالَ اِنَّمَاۤ اَشۡكُوۡا بَثِّـىۡ وَحُزۡنِىۡۤ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَاَعۡلَمُ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ‏ ۝
Qala innama ashkoo baththee wahuzneeila Allahi waaAAlamu mina Allahi ma lataAAlamoon
He said, "I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allāh, and I know from Allāh that which you do not know.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
اَلَمۡ نَشۡرَحۡ لَـكَ صَدۡرَكَۙ‏ ۝
Alam nashrah laka sadrak
Have We not uplifted your heart for you ˹O Prophet˺,

Tadabbur (Reflection)

This verse speaks to the core theme of **Ash-Sharh**.

The Insight

Reflect on the meaning: "Have We not uplifted your heart for you ˹O Prophet˺,".

اَلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَتَطۡمَٮِٕنُّ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ بِذِكۡرِ اللّٰهِ​ ؕ اَلَا بِذِكۡرِ اللّٰهِ تَطۡمَٮِٕنُّ الۡقُلُوۡبُ ؕ‏ ۝
Allatheena amanoo watatma-innuquloobuhum bithikri Allahi ala bithikriAllahi tatma-innu alquloob
Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allāh. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allāh hearts are assured."

The Insight

Reflect on the meaning: "Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allāh. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allāh hearts are assured."".

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلٰىؕ‏ ۝
Ma waddaAAaka rabbuka wama qala
Your Lord ˹O Prophet˺ has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful ˹of you˺.

This verse speaks to the core theme of **Ad-Duhaa**.

The Insight

Reflect on the meaning: "Your Lord ˹O Prophet˺ has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful ˹of you˺.".

وَلَا تَهِنُوۡا وَ لَا تَحۡزَنُوۡا وَاَنۡتُمُ الۡاَعۡلَوۡنَ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‏ ۝
Wala tahinoo wala tahzanoowaantumu al-aAAlawna in kuntum mu/mineen
So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are true believers.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Guarantee of Superiority: Do not lose heart in the face of temporary defeat.

The Insight

Believers are told not to lose heart or grieve, for they are superior if they are truly believers. Maintain moral confidence. Do not let temporary setbacks, defeats, or professional failures define your ultimate worth. Your inherent superiority is spiritual, based on your faith, not external circumstance.

اِلَّا تَـنۡصُرُوۡهُ فَقَدۡ نَصَرَهُ اللّٰهُ اِذۡ اَخۡرَجَهُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا ثَانِىَ اثۡنَيۡنِ اِذۡ هُمَا فِى الۡغَارِ اِذۡ يَقُوۡلُ لِصَاحِبِهٖ لَا تَحۡزَنۡ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَنَا​ ۚ فَاَنۡزَلَ اللّٰهُ سَكِيۡنَـتَهٗ عَلَيۡهِ وَاَ يَّدَهٗ بِجُنُوۡدٍ لَّمۡ تَرَوۡهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوا السُّفۡلٰى​ ؕ وَكَلِمَةُ اللّٰهِ هِىَ الۡعُلۡيَا ؕ وَاللّٰهُ عَزِيۡزٌ حَكِيۡمٌ‏ ۝
Illa tansuroohu faqad nasarahuAllahu ith akhrajahu allatheena kafaroo thaniyaithnayni ith huma fee alghari ithyaqoolu lisahibihi la tahzan inna AllahamaAAana faanzala Allahu sakeenatahu AAalayhiwaayyadahu bijunoodin lam tarawha wajaAAala kalimata allatheenakafaroo assufla wakalimatu Allahi hiyaalAAulya wallahu AAazeezun hakeem
If you do not aid him i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ) - Allāh has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out of Makkah as one of two, when they were in the cave and he i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ) said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allāh is with us." And Allāh sent down His tranquility upon him and supported him with soldiers i.e., angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allāh - that is the highest. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.

Reflect on the meaning: "If you do not aid him i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ) - Allāh has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out of Makkah as one of two, when they were in the cave and he i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ) said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allāh is with us." And Allāh sent down His tranquility upon him and supported him with soldiers i.e., angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allāh - that is the highest. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.".

Surah Ta-Ha 20:25
قَالَ رَبِّ اشۡرَحۡ لِىۡ صَدۡرِىْ ۙ‏ ۝
Qala rabbi ishrah lee sadree
Moses said, "My Lord, expand i.e., relax for me my breast with assurance
