Surah Al-A'raf 7:5
فَمَا كَانَ دَعۡوٰٮهُمۡ اِذۡ جَآءَهُمۡ بَاۡسُنَاۤ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّا كُنَّا ظٰلِمِيۡنَ‏ ۝
Fama kana daAAwahum ithjaahum ba/suna illa an qaloo innakunna thalimeen
Their only cry—when overwhelmed by Our torment—was, “We have indeed been wrongdoers.”

The Insight

When facing destruction, the only plea the destroyed communities offered was to confess their own injustice. **Own your mistakes.** In moments of failure or trial, practice radical honesty by acknowledging your personal error. Self-justification and denial are futile before God's justice.
