Surah Al-A'raf (7:197)

وَالَّذِيۡنَ تَدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِهٖ لَا يَسۡتَطِيۡعُوۡنَ نَـصۡرَكُمۡ وَلَاۤ اَنۡفُسَهُمۡ يَنۡصُرُوۡنَ‏ ۝

Wallatheena tadAAoona mindoonihi la yastateeAAoona nasrakum walaanfusahum yansuroon

And those you call upon besides Him are unable to help you, nor can they help themselves."

Theme of the Ayat

The True Lord: The object of polytheism can neither help nor save themselves.

The Insight

The idols they worship can neither help them nor save themselves. **Recognize ultimate dependence.** False worship is a reliance on something utterly dependent and powerless.
