AYAT.ONE
Walaqad arsalna ila omamin minqablika faakhathnahum bilba/sa-i waddarra-ilaAAallahum yatadarraAAoon
And We have already sent messengers to nations before you, O Muḥammad; then We seized them with poverty and hardship that perhaps they might humble themselves to Us.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Historical Precedent of Trial: Sending hardship to past nations to prompt humility.

The Insight

God sent affliction (hardship and distress) to past nations to encourage them to humble themselves and supplicate to Him. **View hardship as a corrective.** Do not complain about trials. They are designed to soften the heart and remind you of your complete dependence on the Creator.
