Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allāh, until when the Hour of resurrection comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, how great is our regret over what we neglected concerning it i.e., the Hour," while they bear their burdens i.e., sins on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Regret of the Deniers: Realizing the truth of the Hour after rejecting it.

The Insight

Those who deny the inevitable Hour will be losers, realizing their great loss only when it suddenly overtakes them. They will carry their burdens of sin on their backs. **Avoid procrastination in faith.** Do not delay commitment to truth based on the false hope that the reckoning is far off. Live every day conscious that the ultimate, unannounced reality is near.
