Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

Zachariah's Confirmation: The need for a sign to reassure human logic.

The Insight

Zachariah asked for a sign to reassure his human logic that this miraculous birth would indeed occur. Seek certainty, not doubt. It is permissible to ask for signs to increase your conviction, as long as the request comes from a desire for certainty, not skepticism or denial.
