But when she delivered her, she said, "My Lord, I have delivered a female." And Allāh was most knowing of what she delivered, and the male is not like the female. "And I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge for her in You and for her descendants from Satan, the expelled from the mercy of Allāh."

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Acceptance of the Gift: God's acceptance of Maryam, despite the mother's surprise at her female gender.

The Insight

When Maryam was born, her mother expressed her surprise that she was a female, yet God fully accepted the child and ensured her protection. Value all gifts equally. Do not be disappointed if a blessing (child, job, outcome) doesn't meet your initial expectations. God's acceptance and blessing upon the gift are far more important than its worldly value or gender.
