Surah Al-Baqarah (2:257)

اَللّٰهُ وَلِىُّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا يُخۡرِجُهُمۡ مِّنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوۡرِؕ وَالَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡۤا اَوۡلِيٰٓـــُٔهُمُ الطَّاغُوۡتُۙ يُخۡرِجُوۡنَهُمۡ مِّنَ النُّوۡرِ اِلَى الظُّلُمٰتِؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ اَصۡحٰبُ النَّارِۚ هُمۡ فِيۡهَا خٰلِدُوۡنَ‏ ۝

Allahu waliyyu allatheena amanooyukhrijuhum mina aththulumati ilaannoori wallatheena kafaroo awliyaohumuattaghootu yukhrijoonahum mina annoori ilaaththulumati ola-ika as-habuannari hum feeha khalidoon

Allāh is the Ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light. And those who disbelieve - their allies are ṭāghūt. They take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein.

Theme of the Ayat

The Transition of Light: God brings the believers from darkness to light.

The Insight

God is the Guardian of the believers, bringing them out of darkness and into the light. The disbelievers' guardians are false deities, leading them from light into darkness. Choose your influence wisely. Your environment and close associates determine your spiritual trajectory. Choose companions and guides who actively pull you toward clarity, truth, and piety.
