There shall be no compulsion in acceptance of the religion. The right course has become distinct from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in ṭāghūt and believes in Allāh has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Freedom of Conscience: No compulsion in matters of faith.

The Insight

There is no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The truth (guidance) is clearly distinguishable from error (misguidance). Respect spiritual autonomy. Do not force faith onto others. Your duty is to clarify the truth; their decision is their own. The clarity of the path is sufficient proof.
