Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201
وَمِنۡهُمۡ مَّنۡ يَّقُوۡلُ رَبَّنَآ اٰتِنَا فِى الدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةً وَّفِى الۡاٰخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَّ قِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ‏ ۝
Waminhum man yaqoolu rabbana atinafee addunya hasanatan wafee al-akhiratihasanatan waqina AAathaba annar
But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

The All-Encompassing Prayer: Asking for good in both worlds.

The Insight

The model prayer is for goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and protection from the Fire. Balance your supplication. The perfect prayer (*Rabbana Atina*) asks for holistic goodness. Pray for the physical needs of this life (health, righteous family, lawful provision) while prioritizing the security and reward of the eternal life.
