Surah Al-A'raf 7:47
وَاِذَا صُرِفَتۡ اَبۡصَارُهُمۡ تِلۡقَآءَ اَصۡحٰبِ النَّارِۙ قَالُوۡا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا مَعَ الۡقَوۡمِ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏ ۝
Wa-itha surifat absaruhumtilqaa as-habi annari qaloorabbana la tajAAalna maAAa alqawmi aththalimeen
And when their eyes are turned toward the companions of the Fire, they say, "Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people."

Theme of the Ayat

The Hope of Al-A'raf: Praying for protection from the fate of the wicked.

The Insight

Those on the Heights will pray to God not to place them with the people of the Fire. **Seek proximity to the righteous.** The status of the intermediate soul is based on fear and hope. Always strive to be counted among the believers.
