Surah Al-A'raf 7:23
قَالَا رَبَّنَا ظَلَمۡنَاۤ اَنۡفُسَنَا وَاِنۡ لَّمۡ تَغۡفِرۡ لَـنَا وَتَرۡحَمۡنَا لَـنَكُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الۡخٰسِرِيۡنَ‏ ۝
Qala rabbana thalamnaanfusana wa-in lam taghfir lana watarhamnalanakoonanna mina alkhasireen
They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers."

The Insight

Adam and his spouse immediately realized their error and supplicated, seeking God's forgiveness and mercy. **Repent immediately after failure.** Do not dwell in self-blame or denial. The first step after a mistake is to immediately turn to God with sincere admission of error.
