Surah Al-A'raf (7:162)

فَبَدَّلَ الَّذِيۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ قَوۡلًا غَيۡرَ الَّذِىۡ قِيۡلَ لَهُمۡ فَاَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ رِجۡزًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَظۡلِمُوۡنَ‏ ۝

Fabaddala allatheena thalamoominhum qawlan ghayra allathee qeela lahum faarsalnaAAalayhim rijzan mina assama-i bima kanooyathlimoon

But those who wronged among them changed the words to a statement other than that which had been said to them. So We sent upon them a punishment from the sky for the wrong that they were doing.

The Consequence of Violation: Punishment for their deliberate disobedience.

The Insight

Because they deliberately changed the divine word and transgressed, God sent down a severe punishment (plague) upon them. **Fear wilful moral corruption.** Disobedience and distortion of God's commands are not tolerated and bring swift consequence.
