Say, O Muḥammad, "Bring forward your witnesses who will testify that Allāh has prohibited this." And if they testify, do not testify with them. And do not follow the desires of those who deny Our verses and those who do not believe in the Hereafter, while they equate others with their Lord.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Sin of False Witness: Condemnation for those who bear false witness for personal gain.

The Insight

The Prophet is commanded to challenge those who claim false prohibitions on God to bring forward their witnesses. **Uphold truth in testimony.** Recognize that false witness is a grave transgression, especially when attempting to dictate divine law.
