Surah Al-An'am 6:140
قَدۡ خَسِرَ الَّذِيۡنَ قَتَلُوۡۤا اَوۡلَادَهُمۡ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍ وَّحَرَّمُوۡا مَا رَزَقَهُمُ اللّٰهُ افۡتِرَآءً عَلَى اللّٰهِ​ؕ قَدۡ ضَلُّوۡا وَمَا كَانُوۡا مُهۡتَدِيۡنَ‏ ۝
Qad khasira allatheena qataloo awladahumsafahan bighayri AAilmin waharramoo ma razaqahumuAllahu iftiraan AAala Allahi qad dalloowama kanoo muhtadeen
They will have lost who killed their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited what Allāh had provided for them, inventing untruth about Allāh. They have gone astray and were not rightly guided.

Theme of the Ayat

The Consequence of Ignorance: Murder and distortion for the sake of fabrication.

The Insight

Those who killed their own children out of ignorance and distorted their religion were condemned. **Avoid the folly of ignorance.** Lack of knowledge coupled with reckless action leads to severe moral crimes. Seek genuine knowledge to prevent spiritual error.
