Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:71)

وَحَسِبُوۡۤا اَلَّا تَكُوۡنَ فِتۡنَةٌ فَعَمُوۡا وَصَمُّوۡا ثُمَّ تَابَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ثُمَّ عَمُوۡا وَصَمُّوۡا كَثِيۡرٌ مِّنۡهُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ بَصِيۡرٌۢ بِمَا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ ۝

Wahasiboo alla takoonafitnatun faAAamoo wasammoo thumma taba AllahuAAalayhim thumma AAamoo wasammoo katheerun minhum wallahubaseerun bima yaAAmaloon

And they thought there would be no resulting punishment, so they became blind and deaf. Then Allāh turned to them in forgiveness; then again many of them became blind and deaf. And Allāh is Seeing of what they do.

The Illusion of Immunity: Assuming there would be no negative consequence for sin.

The Insight

They assumed there would be no negative consequence for their sins, leading to their spiritual blindness and deafness. **Acknowledge the certainty of consequence.** Do not let temporary ease or worldly success lead to moral complacency. Every sin accumulates spiritual debt.
