Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:26
​قَالَ فَاِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ​ اَرۡبَعِيۡنَ سَنَةً​​  ۚ يَتِيۡهُوۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ​ ؕ فَلَا تَاۡسَ عَلَى الۡقَوۡمِ الۡفٰسِقِيۡنَ‏ ۝
Qala fa-innaha muharramatunAAalayhim arbaAAeena sanatan yateehoona fee al-ardi falata/sa AAala alqawmi alfasiqeen
Allāh said, "Then indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years in which they will wander throughout the land. So do not grieve over the defiantly disobedient people."

The Insight

The people were punished by God with forty years of wandering in the desert. **Acknowledge the long consequence of disobedience.** Acts of rebellion and refusal to struggle often result in a prolonged, difficult, and fruitless period of life, wasting time and resources. |
