Surah An-Nisa (4:51)

اَلَمۡ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوۡا نَصِيۡبًا مِّنَ الۡكِتٰبِ يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِالۡجِبۡتِ وَالطَّاغُوۡتِ وَيَقُوۡلُوۡنَ لِلَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا هٰٓؤُلَۤاءِ اَهۡدٰى مِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا سَبِيۡلًا‏ ۝

Alam tara ila allatheena ootoonaseeban mina alkitabi yu/minoona biljibtiwattaghooti wayaqooloona lillatheenakafaroo haola-i ahda mina allatheena amanoosabeela

Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture, who believe in jibt superstition and ṭāghūt false objects of worship and say about the disbelievers, "These are better guided than the believers as to the way"?

The Guidance of Error: Seeking judgment from false deities and idols.

The Insight

This condemns those who were given a portion of the Scripture but still seek the judgment of idols (*Jibt*) and false deities. **Seek the legitimate source of law.** Do not seek moral or legal rulings from sources that contradict God's law (e.g., corrupt traditions, secular idols). The law must flow from divine revelation.
