Surah An-Nisa (4:44)

اَلَمۡ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوۡا نَصِيۡبًا مِّنَ الۡكِتٰبِ يَشۡتَرُوۡنَ الضَّلٰلَةَ وَيُرِيۡدُوۡنَ اَنۡ تَضِلُّوا السَّبِيۡلَ ؕ‏ ۝

Alam tara ila allatheena ootoonaseeban mina alkitabi yashtaroona addalalatawayureedoona an tadilloo assabeel

Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture, purchasing error in exchange for it and wishing you would lose the way?

The Error of Scholarship: Trading guidance for misguidance and desiring others to stray.

The Insight

This condemns those given the Scripture who trade clear guidance for misguidance and wish for others to stray. **Do not misuse knowledge.** Intellectual clarity comes with a moral responsibility to guide others. Using knowledge to mislead or confuse people is a severe corruption.
