Surah An-Nisa (4:42)

يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ يَّوَدُّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا وَعَصَوُا الرَّسُوۡلَ لَوۡ تُسَوّٰى بِهِمُ الۡاَرۡضُ ؕ وَلَا يَكۡتُمُوۡنَ اللّٰهَ حَدِيۡـثًا‏ ۝

Yawma-ithin yawaddu allatheenakafaroo waAAasawoo arrasoola law tusawwabihimu al-ardu wala yaktumoona Allaha hadeetha

That Day, those who disbelieved and disobeyed the Messenger will wish they could be covered by the earth. And they will not conceal from Allāh a single statement.

Theme of the Ayat

The Day of Exposure: The disbelievers wish they could disappear when faced with truth.

The Insight

The disbelievers and those who disobeyed the Messenger will wish that the earth would swallow them up, but they cannot conceal the truth from God. **Face truth immediately.** Do not delay repentance. Lying or concealing the truth is futile, as the Day of Judgment will expose everything to God and the community.
