وَلَنۡ تَسۡتَطِيۡعُوۡۤا اَنۡ تَعۡدِلُوۡا بَيۡنَ النِّسَآءِ وَلَوۡ حَرَصۡتُمۡ​ فَلَا تَمِيۡلُوۡا كُلَّ الۡمَيۡلِ فَتَذَرُوۡهَا كَالۡمُعَلَّقَةِ​ ؕ وَاِنۡ تُصۡلِحُوۡا وَتَتَّقُوۡا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ غَفُوۡرًا رَّحِيۡمًا‏ ۝
Walan tastateeAAoo an taAAdiloobayna annisa-i walaw harastum falatameeloo kulla almayli fatatharooha kalmuAAallaqatiwa-in tuslihoo watattaqoo fa-inna Allaha kanaghafooran raheema
And you will never be able to be equal in feeling between wives, even if you should strive to do so. So do not incline completely toward one and leave another hanging. And if you amend your affairs and fear Allāh - then indeed, Allāh is ever Forgiving and Merciful.

The Inability to Achieve Perfect Equality: The limitation on emotional justice in polygamy.

The Insight

Men will never be able to maintain perfect emotional equality among wives, even if they desire to. They are commanded not to incline entirely to one. **Be realistic about limits.** While equality in provision and time is mandatory, emotional perfect equality is humanly impossible. Strive for justice while acknowledging human limits.
