Let not believers take disbelievers as allies i.e., supporters or protectors rather than believers. And whoever of you does that has nothing i.e., no association with Allāh, except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allāh warns you of Himself, and to Allāh is the final destination.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Prohibition of Alliance: Not taking disbelievers as confidantes over believers.

The Insight

Believers are warned against taking disbelievers as close allies or secret confidantes over their fellow believers. Guard your spiritual loyalty. While professional courtesy is fine, reserve your intimate trust, strategic loyalty, and deepest moral alliance for those who share your commitment to God's values.
