Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason?

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Hypocrisy of Preaching: Condemnation for teaching what one fails to practice.

The Insight

The verse condemns people of the Scripture who preach righteousness but neglect to practice it themselves. Lead by example. Your personal conduct must validate your public advice. Do not demand piety from others (children, employees, friends) that you yourself fail to uphold. Practice precedes preaching.
