Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allāh and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders of it or other injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Integrity of Giving: Charity that is free from boastfulness or harm.

The Insight

The reward for charity is guaranteed only if the giving is followed neither by reminding the recipient of the favor (boastfulness) nor by harmful speech. Protect the dignity of the recipient. When giving charity, your humility is as important as the gift itself. Giving to help one's ego (boasting) cancels the spiritual reward and inflicts emotional pain on the needy.
