AYAT.ONE
Tilka ommatun qad khalat laha makasabat walakum ma kasabtum wala tus-aloona AAammakanoo yaAAmaloon
That is a nation which has passed on. It will have the consequence of what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do.

Tadabbur (Reflection)

Theme of the Ayat

The Repetition of Accountability: Their era is over; focus on the present.

The Insight

This repeats the fact that those communities have passed on, and their deeds belong to them, re-emphasizing that the current generation is only responsible for its own actions. Move beyond ancestral focus. Use the wisdom of the past, but recognize that history does not earn salvation. Your spiritual effort today is all that counts.
